The unspoken language that brings together communities
Sport is a universal language that brings strangers together and makes us feel alive in a visceral way. Sportify is a community that celebrates the sport-lovers, aiming to unite diverse communities around their favourite sports and empathize with the fan experience.
The gathering of the fans
For dedicated fans who are mostly limited to an experience of fan forums of a single sport, team, league, or a few athletes, Sportify brings a platform where fans follow and interact with their favourites, but also get a chance to discover new grounds and stumble into other die-hard sports fans with similar passions. Their brand language is inspired by the primal spirit of belonging that brings together communities- manifested by grassy fields, artificial tracks, open waters, and fresh snow.
The Medal
The Medal- Sportify’s eclectic visual cornerstone marries distinctiveness with timelessness. The Medal as a whole represents the glory of victory, but when seen as a collection of the letters in the word "sport" it represents the coming together of a community.
The colours- grass, track, ocean, and snow- epitomize the venues where history takes place. The visual direction focuses on complementing the narration of competition.
Typefaces that marry elegance with timelessness
Sportify's typeface Canela epitomize the elegance of trained and coordinated movements. Its letterforms swish and curve while the serifs keep it grounded. On the other hand, Roboto brings a sense of inclusivity and balance. In its Condensed form, it complements Canela’s elegance with camaraderie, while in its Mono form it's a bit wilder.
Stitched into the fabric of the community
Whether it’s a last gasp winner, a decisive knockout, a photo finish, a memorable fan moment, or a screening at a local pub, Sportify offers a brand that integrates itself into the fabric of a community- through cross-stitched connections between fans from across the globe, the stands that add colour and noise, and the roar of the fans that spur the players on to great things.
An important lesson in this project was understanding scale, diversity, and history of the fans Sportify will champion.
